Mint Coaching FAQ’s
Coaching is still a relative new profession and there are lots of questions people have when they are considering hiring a coach. The following are common questions I encounter when someone is enquiring about coaching with Mint Coaching. All answers are specific to Mint Coaching and may not be relevant to other coaching organisations.
What is coaching?
The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
In addition to this Mint Coaching explains coaching as an ongoing partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. This occurs through the process of listening, insightful questioning, reflection and ACTION!
When coached by Mint Coaching you will be empowered and encouraged, have an objective and trusted sounding board. You will have someone who is curious about who you are and what you want. And you will have a coach who will ask the hard questions, help you tow the line and keep you honest.
Why would I hire a coach?
People hire coaches for a variety of different reasons, specifically Mint Coaching clients often want:
- a better work life balance;
- assistance to help them achieve their defined goals;
- help creating a map for the (big picture) path forward;
- to take control of their life;
- clarity and purpose around the many choices they seem to have;
- confidence and clarity in relationships;
- assistance to re-evaluate where they are and where they are heading;
- better health and wellbeing;
- to be challenged around limiting behaviours;
- to “get a life”!
Coaching isn’t what I expected it was much, much more! I really appreciated the process ie. Structure. Because it gave order to some fairly scary things, and enabled the scary things to be a whole lot more palatable and even more enjoyable! It was also a freeing process and allowed real creativity within it. I am sure that was because you had it under control Katie – Jenny Nichol
Who do you usually coach?
Mint Coaching clients are primarily savvy young(ish) professional women who are smart, motivated and achievement orientated. They are ready to aim high and make a difference to their life and others.
How long do I have to commit if I start working with a coach?
Over a decade of experience has taught me that a minimum three month commitment (7 sessions) is required for lasting shifts to occur. However, the best results are gained from a six month (12 sessions) commitment.
My goal for you is to get to a place where you can coach yourself. Over time as you become a more experienced client you will start asking yourself the questions that I will often ask.
I have had clients with me for three months to two years and even then clients will check in years later for some tune up sessions.
But for starters I recommend three to six months.
How much does it cost?
At the risk of sounding like a ‘wanker’ what is the cost to yourself if things don’t change? Do you still want to be here next year or 5, 10 years from now…?
That said the actual financial cost for someone starting out as a one to one client with Mint Coaching depends on the package you choose. Please see the options below.

How do we get started?
We start with a conversation.
This leads to confirmation of the coaching agreement then we organise a suitable time for our first session.
Prior to the first session Mint Coaching will send you an electronic welcome kit with a whole lot of information about how Mint Coaching operates and how you can get the best from your coaching. There is also a client interview to help us measure where you are at and where you would like to go.
You will also receive a very pretty and useful package through the post with some lovely goodies to enhance your (mint) coaching experience.
After the first session, then regular weekly or fortnightly sessions are booked. Often after a few months we will go to monthly sessions.
We regularly check-in with review sessions to help you stay on track and determine the requirements of the coaching relationship.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
If you are searching for coaching then it is most likely right for you. A better question is who is the best coach for you? Please research and interview several coaches before you decide on a coach.
It is very important you feel 110% comfortable with your coach. For a successful coaching relationship you will be required to be completely honest and they will be required to be completely candid otherwise you are just wasting each others time.
